A little more about Mr. Hudson:

Bradley J. Hudson joined Sacramento County as Executive Officer on August 15, 2011. Brad came to the County from Riverside, California, where he served as the City Manager from 2005-2011. Prior to his tenure as City Manager, he served as Assistant CEO for Riverside County, totaling more than twenty years of leadership in the Riverside area. He has a reputation as a dynamic, turn-around executive with a track record of stimulating economic growth and development, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and successfully managing people and budgets.

While he was City Manager, Riverside was the only large city in California to enter fiscal year 2011/12 without a deficit or reliance upon reserves, and to finish the year with a budget surplus. During his last year with the City, bond ratings were affirmed or upgraded and substantial reserves were maintained. Competitive Analytics, an independent scientific think tank, proclaimed Riverside as the most fiscally sound city in the state on a per capita basis.

Even during tough fiscal times, he was instrumental in improving the responsiveness of City services to citizen needs through the nationally recognized Customer Relationship Management Program which uses technology and broadband applications to receive and respond to citizen requests for service. During the last four years, citizen requests for service increased by over 40% while response times decreased significantly.

He is particularly proud of The Riverside Renaissance Initiative, The Smart Riverside Program and the Green Riverside Initiative. The Riverside Renaissance is a $1.57 billion capital improvement program which constructed 30 years of public improvements in five years. The Smart Riverside Program worked to establish the City of Riverside as an innovation and technology center and to provide free computers and internet access to every citizen. These efforts helped distinguish Riverside as one of the world’s most intelligent communities for 2011. The Green Riverside Initiative distinguished Riverside as California’s first “Emerald City’ by developing a community driven environmental program that includes green building, recycling and reuse, renewable energy resources, resource conservation, clean air initiatives, and community education and outreach.

Brad is excited to join the team of excellent employees in Sacramento County. “While these are challenging times, there are also many opportunities that lie before us. I look forward to working with County leadership and the citizens of Sacramento County in a transparent and collaborative manner to secure a better future for all of our residents,” Hudson said.

Brad received his B.S. degree in Business Administration from California State University Fresno and his M.P.A. degree from the University of San Francisco. He is a Veteran of the United States Air Force and currently lives in midtown Sacramento where he will soon be joined by his wife Andrea and son Alex.
